I've just installed norton antivirus software. Now when i turn on my computer......?

It takes ages before i can open internet explorer. The computer is wirring away as if its being scanned or something. I suspect there's an automatic system scan going on but can't find how to turn it off. I'd rather just scan when i decide to rather than every time i turn computer on. Any ideas.

Norton amongst computer people is called BLOAT WARE, in other words it is a massive piece of software and it will guarantee that you will never get your computer hacked but it renders your computer unusable.

I work in IT and it is an absolute mystery to me why people still use Norton because it is a nightmare

Get rid of it. This can be a problem. If it has been on your machine for some time, it is virtually impossible to remove.

Use AVG anti-virus and Spybot. They will protect your machine without damage.
