Before you do any of the following back up your registry and set a restore point.

Stop Norton from running first, i.e. turn it off. You might have to go to Start, Run, typ msconfig and then click on the tab labled Startup, find every instance of either Symantec or Norton and uncheck it. Reboot

Go on the web and download the last free version of JV16 powertools

use it to remove every instance of Symantec and Norton.

Right click on start and click on Explore then r remove all folders/directories of either Symantec or Norton

after that you should be ok.
