What version of Norton are you using? are you using 2005? If yes, they you dont have to anything. It has an in built Anti spyware, which is heck lot better than Windows Defender. I would not personally recommend it to u coz it will make ur compture pretty much slow. Also, they may have some conflict with each, which may coz hard drive Crash, slow running comps, weird behaviors etc.

Be very wary about installing any other security products alongside Norton. It really doesn't "play well with others".
Make sure you have all your backups in place

yea go ahead because Windows Defender is a Anti-Spyware Program FREE from microsoft. You still can download it,but i would turn off the internet security for a while (on norton) while you download/install. The internet security made my computer crash often. (eMachines T5010)
You don't say what OS you are running....
Most of the tech/trade magazines suggest that you should use more than one anti-spyware program. Symantec is ok, it generally rates well, but it is an antivirus.
