Why does it take norton antivirus SO long to run a scan???

i never remember it ever taking so long as it does now a days. it takes like 3 hours to run a complete scan! RIDICULOUS!!!

3 hours is not that much, it have about 60 GB used on my computer and it takes norton about 2.5 hours to scan, and avg free takes about 3-4 hours.

You may have a hard-drive with many files stored on it, or you may have activated the full scan, which will scan almost your whole hard-drive.
it scan ur whole hardrive, all files...the bigger ur harddisk, tle longer it take...suggest you do it when u go to sleep...
Well some people do think Norton is a virus since it eats all the ram in your system so ne thing else can you should go for a free version of AVG or something nice and free :) but yea speeds depends i have 1TB of space and yea depends how much data u have
