I need help, I unistalled Norton antivirus and spyware and nothing works.?

I put the software in to protect myself and it froze everything.Nothing works. It's a gateway 2.9Ghz laptop. Now what. Can anyone offer any advice.

Remove Norton and use AVG and Spybot Search and Destroy. They are free.

clean your system out of all signs of norton before installing anything else.

there should be an uninstaller there SYMNRT or SYMCLN.zip

follow these instructions carefully.
Go to Start -%26gt; Run -%26gt; Type as regedit. Enter. From Edit -%26gt; Find search for "Symentic" and "Norton". Delete all of them.

Go to your C:\ and secrch for "Symentic" and "Norton" , each search should be separate.

Delate all entries.

If still does not work, 'System Restore' from your CD or D:\. May try move back to History Save Point.
Is it locking up as soon a windows loads?

If so when booting up press F8 and load into safe mode.

I would then go to the system restore and back date it.
Go to the Norton web site and find their custom uninstaller. Download that to remove, then find another Anti-virus/malware program (I recemmend Panda!)
Go to your system restore under control panel and go back to the day before you uninstalled the program , then follow proper procedure when removing anything
