i went under control panel and tried the computer provided add/remove programs and its not there.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove Norton. If it does not help, go to Symantec's website and you can get a step-by-step procedure to uninstall Norton. Are you replacing it with AVG? I did so a month ago and the result has been absolutely fantastic.

Welcome to the suck. Thousands of people have had problems succesfully uninstalling Norton products. Even if you can do it through an uninstall process there's hundreds of trace files leftover. Norton made special uninstall software for their products. Do a Google for Norton Uninstall it shouldn't be hard to find.
If i where u, i wouldnt delete it. Once i deleted it, i somehow got a pack of virus, and it auto restarted the compter it self. U dont want that happenin
Install the same and un-install the same.... Simple. It worked for me.
i think its something wrong with your antivirus installation

see the uninstall feature in the control panel %26gt;%26gt; add and remove

if it dosent exist then reinstall and then try to uninstall it

and dont forget to remove the NAV folder and its registery entry
do what ravi sahu said...thats the best..if u simply delete it only those files in programm folder will be deleted..but what abt those in windows folder...registry..etc..
